Group Writing a Textbook

I am taking a new direction in teaching my knowledge management class this semester. Namely, I have asked my students to write a textbook about KM. The text would fit the Wikibooks model. We will decide whether to write it in private and then port to a public space, or to write it in public. Even if we write in private, we will probably use the MediaWiki platform since that will make it easy to port it to Wikibooks. Besides, MediaWiki provides a discussion area for each wiki page, which will help facilitate our writing process. In addition, we are considering using other outlining tools such as FreeMind. My sense is that we will do more outlining and organizing than writing, but I have been known to be wrong! Another constraint on the size of the document will be the fact that only nine students are enrolled in the course.
